QShelter Ltd and M.I. Okoro and Associates have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly market homes under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, targeting 20,000 units across Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and an additional 60 homes in other parts of the country. The partnership aims to expand access to affordable housing nationwide.
The agreement was formalized at a joint press briefing attended by financial institutions, professional bodies, and industry stakeholders.
Dr. Meckson Okoro, CEO of M.I. Okoro and Associates, emphasized that the collaboration will enhance nationwide marketing for the Renewed Hope Estates and extend access to housing for Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora. He described the initiative as a major step in deepening professional participation in the housing sector.
Okoro praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing mass housing delivery with long-term, low-interest financing. The scheme leverages NHF mortgages, rent-to-own options, and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated Real Estate Investment Fund (MREIF) to make homeownership more achievable.
He also highlighted critical enablers for affordable housing, including direct land allocation, infrastructure development, clean land titles, solar integration, and strict mortgage regulation. Okoro warned against speculative purchases by influential buyers and urged that homes be accessible to ordinary Nigerians.
Kola Sowande, Chairman of QShelter Ltd, reiterated that the partnership aligns with the company’s mission to support government efforts in reducing Nigeria’s housing deficit through public–private partnerships and accessible mortgage financing. He highlighted that beneficiaries could access NHF mortgages at 6% per annum, rent-to-own options at 7%, and MREIF loans of up to ₦100 million at 9.75% interest.
QShelter’s COO, Adegbenga Alamu, explained that the company’s digital platform is simplifying homeownership for informal sector workers, making the process faster and more accessible.
Stakeholders, including Victor Alonge (NIESV President) and Innocent Ike (Access Holdings Plc MD), commended the initiative for fostering trust, closing Nigeria’s housing gap, and inspiring investor confidence. Fred Adegeye, Captain of the Nigeria UK Golfing Association, stressed the importance of protecting diaspora investors against fraud.
The partnership plans to market the estates internationally through exhibitions in the UK and the United States, aiming to further expand access to affordable homes, increase productivity, and reduce corruption in housing delivery.
