ASUU Strike: NLC to Meet as Ultimatum Expires

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced that its organs will convene to determine the next course of action following the expiration of their ultimatum to the Federal Government today, Saturday.

The development was disclosed by Benson Upah, Acting Secretary-General of the NLC, in a conversation with Punch.

One month ago, the NLC had issued an ultimatum demanding urgent solutions to the prolonged crisis in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. That ultimatum officially expired on Friday.

Upah reaffirmed that the NLC remains committed to industrial harmony in tertiary institutions. He stated:

“In keeping with our pledge and in pursuance of our unflagging commitment to the noble causes of the unions in tertiary institutions, appropriate organs of the Congress will meet and decide on the next line of action. You’d be duly informed.”

The NLC’s upcoming decision will be closely watched as stakeholders await clarity on the future of the ongoing academic disruptions caused by the ASUU strike.
