Bengaluru, Karnataka, November 1, 2025: A late-night workplace argument over a light switch turned deadly in Bengaluru on Saturday when a 41-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his colleague in a shocking escalation of a trivial dispute.
The victim has been identified as Bheemesh Babu, a native of Chitradurga district, who worked at Data Digital Bank, a private firm specializing in daily video storage for film shoots. According to police sources, the confrontation occurred inside the company’s rented office at approximately 1:30 am.
The accused, Somala Vamshi, 24, from Vijayawada, was reportedly staying overnight at the office along with Bheemesh. The two were the only employees present in the office during the late hours. Police reports indicate that the disagreement started over a minor issue—whether to keep the office lights on or off.
What began as a simple argument quickly escalated into violence. In a sudden outburst, Vamshi allegedly picked up a dumbbell and struck Bheemesh on the forehead. The impact proved fatal, and Bheemesh was declared dead on the spot, police said.
Immediately following the incident, Vamshi went directly to the Govindraj Nagar police station, where he confessed to the crime and surrendered. Authorities have taken him into custody, and a murder case has been formally registered.
Investigators are conducting further inquiries to determine the full sequence of events that led to the tragic altercation. Police officials emphasized that while the argument may appear trivial, it underscores the need for conflict resolution mechanisms and vigilance in workplace settings.
This case has sent shockwaves across Bengaluru, highlighting how minor disputes can escalate into violent incidents, especially when tensions run high during late-night work hours.
The investigation continues, with police reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing colleagues and witnesses to reconstruct the moments leading up to the fatal confrontation.
