The presiding pastor of Genesis Global Church, Prophet Israel Ogundipe, also known as Prophet Genesis, has advised Christians not to prioritize first fruit offerings over their personal or family well-being.
Speaking on the financial pressures often associated with first fruit contributions, especially at the start of the year, Prophet Genesis emphasized that faith should not come at the cost of essential responsibilities.
“Because it is the first month of the year, many people usually bring this offering, and a lot of them are worried about how they would cope financially if they pay,” he said.
The cleric recounted a recent situation involving a church member who had N500,000 but also needed to help his mother pay her rent.
“He wanted to use the money to pay first fruit because he had heard that those who don’t pay would not receive God’s blessings. When it got to my table, I told him that God would not want his mum to live on the street or be chased out of her house, and that God does not want His children to be in discomfort,” Prophet Genesis explained.
He urged Christians to remember that God values the well-being of His children and their families, and that financial offerings should never jeopardize basic needs.
