
Cross River State Speaker, Elvert Ayambem, has demonstrated his commitment to education and youth empowerment by disbursing ₦10 million as bursary support to 100 students from Ikom Local Government Area.
The bursary presentation ceremony, which took place at the Speaker’s residence in Nde-Ikom, was carried out on his behalf by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Anakan Ndoma. The event was well-attended, with students, parents, community leaders, and party stakeholders present to witness the impactful occasion.
In his remarks, Hon. Ndoma conveyed the Speaker’s dedication to supporting education and youth development. He described the bursary scheme as a strategic intervention aimed at easing the financial burden on students and their families. Ndoma further emphasized that the bursary was intended to encourage academic excellence and enhance the educational prospects of the recipients.

Ndoma urged the beneficiaries to stay focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies, emphasizing that the bursary was not just financial aid, but an investment in their future and the overall development of Ikom Local Government Area.
In response, Hon. Asinya Ntan, who also spoke at the event, praised Speaker Ayambem for his continued support for human capital development. Ntan highlighted that the initiative was a testament to responsive leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people, especially in the critical areas of education and youth development.

On behalf of the bursary recipients, Atep Godiva, the President of the National Association of Ikom Students Worldwide (NAIS-WW), expressed profound gratitude to Speaker Ayambem. She described the bursary as timely and impactful, particularly in light of the rising cost of education. Godiva acknowledged the Speaker’s gesture as an important support mechanism that would enable students to continue their academic pursuits without the added stress of financial challenges.
