UK-based Nigerian pastor Tobi Adegboyega has criticized American comedian Druski for a viral skit mocking megachurch pastors, calling it disrespectful and misleading.
Adegboyega, founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (SPAC Nation), argued that the portrayal unfairly targets pastors while overlooking the significant societal contributions of churches. He emphasized that many pastors, even those with modest means, give generously to their communities—often more than entertainers.
Speaking from the pulpit, Adegboyega described jokes targeting churches as lazy material, warning that the church is under attack. He stressed that Christian leaders are prepared to defend the church’s integrity, highlighting their efforts in providing housing, food, and other forms of community support.
“When comedians run out of jokes, they just go after the church. It’s not funny,” he said. “Even the stingiest pastor has given more from what little they have than the greatest rapper. The sacrifices made for the community are real, and it’s not a joke.”
Adegboyega also pointed out that many celebrities benefited from church support, making jokes about pastors misleading and unjust. He rejected Druski’s portrayal of pastors demanding extravagant offerings, insisting it misrepresents the broader reality of church work.
The pastor’s comments have sparked debate online, with some social media users defending the comedian, while others sided with Adegboyega on the respect due to religious leaders.
