Dowen College Students Dazzle in Stage Adaptation of ‘Morountodun’

Students of Dowen College, Lekki, lit up the stage with an impressive performance of ‘Morountodun’, a dramatic adaptation of Femi Osofisan’s classic play. The production, held at the school’s Olumide Phillips Hall, drew a full house of parents, guardians, and lovers of theatre.

The school’s drama teacher and director of the play, Judith Bada, praised the students for their dedication, noting that rehearsals began as far back as May. She described their performance as the result of months of hard work, discipline, and passion.

Clearly proud and emotional after the show, she urged the young actors to continue nurturing their talent, saying several of them have the potential to become world-class performers.
She also revealed that this is Dowen College’s first-ever full stage play, and every cast member will receive a certificate in recognition of their commitment.

The school’s Principal, Dr. Adebisi Layiwola, was overflowing with excitement as she applauded both the cast and crew. She commended the director for her exceptional coordination and celebrated the students for fully embodying their roles.

“They held us spellbound from start to finish,” she said. “It was a beautiful performance, and the play reminds us all of the importance of courage and doing the right thing when it matters most.”

Morountodun, adapted from Osofisan’s timeless work, weaves together the legendary story of Moremi, the courageous queen of Ile-Ife, and Titubi, the modern heroine who discovers her own strength and bravery.
