
Transcorp Hotels Plc (NGX: TRANSCOHOT), the hospitality arm of Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group), has appointed Dr. (Mrs.) Awele Vivien Elumelu, OFR, as Chair of the Company, effective January 1, 2026.
Elumelu succeeds Mr. Emmanuel N. Nnorom, who is retiring as Chair on the same date. She brings extensive leadership experience across healthcare, insurance, corporate governance, and philanthropy.
Dr. Elumelu currently chairs Avon Healthcare Limited (Avon HMO), Nigeria’s leading health insurance provider, and Avon Medical Practice, a growing network of hospitals and clinics. She also chairs Heirs Insurance Brokers and serves as a founding Director of Heirs Holdings Limited.
A medical doctor with an MBBS from the University of Benin, Elumelu has clinical experience in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She has complemented her medical background with executive education from globally recognized institutions, including Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economics.
Her commitment to social impact is exemplified by her role as Trustee and Co-Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which empowers African entrepreneurs. Through the Foundation, she has supported over 24,000 young men and women with training, seed capital, and mentorship while championing gender inclusion.
