The Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to sustain security measures, strengthen governance, and promote inclusive development throughout 2026.
In a 2026 message addressed to the Edo State Government, NIPR members, and stakeholders, Dr. James-Wisdom Abhulimen, State Chairman of NIPR, emphasized that security remains a cornerstone of development. He highlighted the need for professional policing, intelligence-led operations, and enhanced rural safety measures to protect lives, boost productivity, and attract investment.
Dr. Abhulimen urged the government to continue investing in social protection and inclusive development initiatives, particularly programs that:
- Support vulnerable populations
- Expand skills development and entrepreneurship
- Improve access to healthcare
- Strengthen agricultural and farmer support schemes
He stressed that such interventions are essential for improving livelihoods, ensuring food security, and accelerating rural development.
The NIPR chairman also commended the Okpebholo administration for its progress in institutional rebuilding, economic revitalization, infrastructure development, and people-centered governance, noting that these efforts are restoring public confidence and laying a solid foundation for long-term growth.
Abhulimen further highlighted the government’s decisive actions against insecurity and cultism, describing them as critical to achieving sustainable development.
He assured that NIPR remains committed to collaborating with the government through ethical public relations practices, strategic communication, and constructive engagement, adding:
“As corporate image, perception, and reputation managers, we are dedicated to advising the government, strengthening governance processes, and fostering meaningful dialogue to help citizens better understand and engage with public policies.”
The body also called on Edo residents to support development by safeguarding public assets, backing government initiatives, and promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion.
NIPR expressed optimism that 2026 would be marked by compassionate leadership, inclusive growth, strengthened public trust, and sustainable development for Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.
