The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received a petition urging it to investigate Anas Adamu Mohammed, a Gombe-based contractor, over alleged fraud, kickbacks, and tax evasion connected to government contracts, including multi-billion-naira TETFUND projects.
The whistleblower, U.G. Muhammad, accused Anas of operating a corruption network with state insiders, including alleged collusion with TETFUND staff, to dominate project procurement. He claimed Anas fraudulently merged two bank accounts belonging to Governor Inuwa Yahaya with his own BVN through Firm Pillars Building Constructions Ltd, allegedly concealing funds.
The petition details alleged kickback schemes tied to TETFUND projects at Gombe State University and other infrastructure contracts, as well as systematic bid-rigging, procurement manipulation, and proxy ownership of multiple companies. The petitioner also accused Anas of tax evasion and forging remittance documents.
Muhammad called on the EFCC to audit all firms involved in TETFUND projects, summon relevant tax authorities, and thoroughly investigate Anas and his network to restore public trust and ensure accountability.
