Ex-Kano LG Chairmen Endorse Tinubu, Reaffirm Loyalty to Ganduje as APC Leader

A coalition of former local government chairmen in Kano State has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term while reaffirming loyalty to Dr. Abdullahi Umar-Ganduje as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano.

The group, consisting of officials who served between 2014 and 2024 under Ganduje’s administration, made their position known during a closed-door meeting with APC stakeholders in Abuja.

Baffa Takai, former chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano, stated that their support for Tinubu is based on his “track record of transformational leadership and commitment to national development.”

The ex-chairmen also highlighted Ganduje’s role as a unifying figure crucial for party growth at both state and national levels and commended the current APC leadership under Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi for fostering unity and mobilizing grassroots support.

They urged all party members to promote peace, solidarity, and development within the APC, pledging to work tirelessly for the party’s success in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Political analysts say the endorsement strengthens Tinubu’s support in Kano, a key northern stronghold, and signals Ganduje’s continued influence in state politics despite stepping down as APC National Chairman.
