FG Pledges Support for Indigenous Contractors in Infrastructure Development

Senator Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, has assured that the federal government is committed to engaging reputable indigenous contractors for key infrastructure projects across the country.

He made the statement during an inspection of the ongoing Abuja-Keffi Road reconstruction, a project awarded in October 2025 to JRB Construction Company Limited, an indigenous firm. The minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work and praised the contractor for its professionalism.

The Abuja-Keffi dual carriageway is a strategically important road designed to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time between the nation’s capital and Nasarawa State, home to many federal civil servants working in Abuja. The project is scheduled for completion by March 2026.

Minister Umahi commended the contractor, saying:

“This is the kind of organisation that will grow this country. Be assured that Mr President is aware of your efforts, and you will be paid to the last kobo.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to support and empower indigenous companies that have demonstrated exceptional performance and patriotism:

“We want to see more indigenous companies like JRB Construction Company Limited, which have shown outstanding capacity to deliver high-standard projects and contribute to national development. Their recognition by the federal government is a testament to their excellence and reliability.”

Umahi emphasized that the government will continue to prioritize firms capable of delivering quality infrastructure, reinforcing the role of indigenous contractors in driving Nigeria’s growth and development.
