FKA twigs, the British singer and songwriter known for her experimental sound and striking visuals, is giving North West her flowers after collaborating with the 12-year-old on her latest album, Eusexua.
North West Features on “Childlike Things”
In a Rolling Stone UK cover story, FKA twigs, 37, discussed working with North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, on the track Childlike Things. North, who raps in Japanese on the song, brought a youthful yet profound energy to the collaboration.
Twigs first wrote Childlike Things when she was 12 or 13 years old, making the collaboration a full-circle moment for the artist. “I was bullied at school and didn’t really have that really close friendship,” she explained. “So Childlike Things was healing — to give the child in me, who was a bit of a loner when I wrote that song, a tenacious, confident friend like North West, to come and hang out with.”
Praising North West’s Emotional Maturity
Twigs reflected on North’s perspective and emotional insight. “I feel like she’s seen so much and she’s so mature in a lot of ways, especially emotionally,” Twigs said. “We went for a few dinners, and she said things that were big and profound. I felt taken aback by her observations of humility that were very on the nose and very true to the things that I’ve learned as an adult.”
The singer expressed admiration for North’s poise and self-assurance, noting that the collaboration was both meaningful and inspiring.
About FKA twigs’ Album Eusexua
Eusexua, released in January 2025, marks FKA twigs’ third studio album, following LP1 and Magdalene. The album features collaborations with electronic musician Koreless alongside North West. A deluxe edition, Eusexua Afterglow, further showcases Twigs’ distinct musical style and experimental sound.
Twigs described the album as a distilled and precise reflection of her artistic vision: “When I listen to Eusexua now, every sound is like a crystallized piece of water; every sound is like ice. There’s something so precise about it because it’s the most distilled version of the message.”
She added, “The point that I want to make with Eusexua now is that an idea can exist and be perfect at the time, but it’s OK for things to be mercurial and to develop and change.”
North West’s Rising Music Presence
North West has appeared in other music collaborations this year, including Christian “King” Combs’ song Lonely Roads, marking her growing footprint in the music industry. Twigs’ collaboration with North highlights the tween’s emerging talent and ability to bring depth and confidence to her performances, even at a young age.
