Former Senator Peter Nwaoboshi Dies at 68

Delta State has lost a prominent political figure with the passing of Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi at the age of 68. Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District, was widely respected for his contributions to the political and social development of the state.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori confirmed the death and described Nwaoboshi as a proud son of Delta State and a committed advocate for the Anioma people. He praised the late senator’s dedication to nation-building and political service, emphasizing that his impact on the state will not be forgotten.

A long-time member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nwaoboshi twice served as the party’s chairman in Delta State, helping to strengthen its structure and influence in the region. He was known for his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to his constituents.

Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, also mourned the loss, remembering Nwaoboshi as a “leader, mentor, and friend.” Akpowowo extended condolences to the Nwaboshi family, the Ibusa community, Oshimili North, and the wider Delta State populace.

Senator Nwaoboshi’s death marks the end of a notable political career and the passing of a figure who played a key role in shaping both his local community and Delta State politics.
