Nigerian football star, Francisca Ordega, has launched a grassroots football clinic in her home state of Benue, aimed at discovering and nurturing young football talents. The clinic, organized under the Francisca Ordega Foundation, took place at McCarthy Stadium and provided participants with intensive coaching and technical training sessions.
Ordega, who is widely known for her stellar performances with the Super Falcons, personally led the program, alongside Ashley Plumptre, a fellow defender for the Super Falcons. The initiative also partnered with Saudi Arabia-based Al-Ittihad Football Club to offer professional coaching insights to aspiring players.
The clinic focused on players aged 14 to 18, with the dual purpose of developing young talent while also training local coaches in modern football techniques to boost grassroots development. Over 100 participants joined the clinic, many of whom expressed excitement at the chance to train with elite international professionals.
Ordega, a Benue native, expressed that the clinic symbolizes her dedication to giving back to her community by advancing women’s football and creating opportunities for young girls—opportunities that were largely unavailable to her when she started her career.
The two-day clinic culminated in a charity match, where Charity Academy Football Club triumphed over Invincible Angels FC with a 1–0 victory to claim the championship title.
