Fraser Forster Joins Bournemouth on Six-Month Deal

Bournemouth have signed experienced goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a six-month deal, providing cover following an injury to first-choice keeper Will Dennis. The 37-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic shot-stopper will serve as backup to Djordje Petrovic for the remainder of the Premier League 2025-26 season.

Forster, who has six caps for England (last in 2016), had been a free agent since leaving Tottenham last summer when his contract expired. The veteran keeper expressed his delight at joining the Vitality Stadium side.

“The opportunity arose and, for me, it was one that I couldn’t say no to,” Forster said. “I am absolutely delighted. It’s happened pretty quickly, but I am delighted to be here and be a part of it. I am looking forward to helping the team and the squad, and contributing however I can for the rest of the season. You can really see the trajectory and the ambition of the club, and I think that was a very attractive thing for me.”

Bournemouth’s Goalkeeping Situation

Bournemouth are currently experiencing a difficult run in the Premier League, with their last victory dating back to 26 October, a stretch of 10 winless matches in the top flight. The addition of Forster provides much-needed depth and experience to the goalkeeping department as the team seeks to improve results in the second half of the season.

Forster’s presence adds Premier League experience and leadership to the squad, qualities that could prove vital as Bournemouth look to climb the table and avoid relegation. He is expected to be among the substitutes for Bournemouth’s upcoming home clash against Arsenal this Saturday.

Career Highlights

Forster has enjoyed a long and successful career across English and Scottish football. He starred for Celtic, winning domestic titles and earning a reputation as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers. His time at Tottenham Hotspur included regular Premier League appearances, and he has also represented England at senior level six times.

His return to English football with Bournemouth marks an opportunity to bring leadership, experience, and reliability between the posts, even if only for a short-term stint.
