Fubara Donates N100 Million to Launch 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has donated N100 million to fund the launch of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem, highlighting the importance of supporting families of fallen and retired members of Nigeria’s armed forces.

The announcement was made during the Emblem Appeal Launch for the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday. The theme for the event is “Sacrifice and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes”, which Governor Fubara described as timely and significant.

Governor Fubara emphasized that retired soldiers have devoted much of their lives to defending the nation and maintaining peace and stability. He noted that this year’s donation represents a 150% increase from the N40 million contributed during the previous appeal.

The governor also urged the Nigerian Legion to submit the names of 50 wards for employment, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made last year. Additionally, he assured that the ongoing construction of the Legion’s permanent secretariat would be completed in 2026.

Fubara stated:

“People who made sacrifices for the unity of this country deserve our support—not just during the annual emblem launching, but through sustained efforts to support the living and honor the deceased.”

The event underscores Rivers State’s continued commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of Nigerian armed forces personnel and supporting their families for national unity and stability.
