Halle Bailey and DDG Reach Custody Settlement Over Son Halo
After months of legal back-and-forth, Halle Bailey and her ex-boyfriend DDG have reached a temporary custody agreement for their 22-month-old son, Halo Saint.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the former couple finalized an arrangement that splits parenting time between the Little Mermaid star and the popular YouTuber-turned-rapper. The agreement was signed by both parties and approved by a judge in Los Angeles County.
Under the new arrangement, DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) will have custody of Halo on Wednesdays and certain weekends, while Halo will reside with Bailey for the remainder of the time. The pair have also agreed to a holiday visitation schedule that allows both parents time with their son during special occasions.
In addition, both Bailey and DDG have dropped their restraining orders against one another and have been ordered by the court not to speak negatively about each other in public or in Halo’s presence.
From Legal Tension to Co-Parenting Agreement
The resolution comes after an intense year-long custody dispute between the exes, who split in October 2024 following a high-profile relationship.
Earlier this year, the two were ordered not to post photos or information about Halo online. This court order came after both sides filed restraining orders and accusations of misconduct against one another.
At that time, DDG had been granted professionally monitored visitation with Halo every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as alternating Sundays. Communication between the former couple was restricted to “peaceful contact” for coordinating visitation.
Their new agreement marks the first major step toward cooperative co-parenting after months of conflict.
A Timeline of the Custody Battle
- May 2024: Halle Bailey was granted a temporary restraining order against DDG, alleging emotional and physical abuse. The order also extended to their son Halo, requiring DDG to stay 100 yards away from both Bailey and the child.
- June 2024: DDG filed an emergency motion asking the court to prevent Bailey from taking Halo on an international vacation to Italy. He also requested a restraining order against Bailey, claiming she posed “emotional and psychological risk” to the child. The judge denied his request the following day.
- Summer 2024: Both parties filed motions accusing each other of misconduct, further complicating the custody process.
- October 2025: The couple finally reached a temporary custody settlement, agreeing to shared parenting duties and dropping all restraining orders.
Halle Bailey’s Focus on Family and Privacy
Throughout the legal turmoil, Halle Bailey — known for her breakout roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple — has remained focused on protecting her son’s privacy.
The actress and singer previously shared glimpses of her journey into motherhood, calling Halo “the greatest gift” during his first birthday celebration earlier this year.
Despite the public attention surrounding their split, both Bailey and DDG have since expressed a desire to prioritize Halo’s well-being.
“Our goal is to create a healthy environment for our son,” a source close to the pair told PEOPLE. “They’ve put their differences aside for Halo’s sake.”
Moving Forward
With the new custody terms in place, Bailey and DDG are expected to continue navigating parenthood privately while focusing on their respective careers.
Bailey is currently preparing for her next major film project, while DDG continues to release new music and grow his digital platform.
The court has encouraged both parents to maintain open communication and comply with the established schedule while finalizing long-term custody terms in the coming months.
