Mumbai: The Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Haq has shown a promising growth at the box office on its second day, following its Friday release. The courtroom drama, directed by Suparn S Varma, is inspired by the real-life Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum case, which led the Supreme Court in 1985 to grant divorced Muslim women the right to maintenance.
Day 2 Collections Surge
According to trade website Sacnilk, Haq collected an estimated ₹3.35 crore on Saturday, more than double its opening day of ₹1.75 crore. With this, the film’s two-day total stands at ₹5.10 crore. The spike indicates positive word of mouth and strong audience engagement.
Fans and moviegoers took to social media to share their thoughts, praising the performances and the sensitive portrayal of the landmark legal battle. Yami Gautam reposted several positive reviews, expressing her gratitude to audiences:
“I have worked really hard to reach a point where there is creative satisfaction & audience love. So I shall never get tired of saying these 2 words from the bottom of my heart to each 1 of you – ‘THANK YOU.’”
About Haq
Haq dramatizes the events of the Shah Bano Case, focusing on the struggle of Shazia (played by Yami Gautam Dhar), a simple, uneducated woman who marries advocate Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi). When Abbas unexpectedly brings home a second wife and subsequently divorces Shazia through triple talaq, she embarks on a courageous legal battle to secure her rights.
The film also features Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady in pivotal roles. By bringing attention to one of India’s most iconic legal reforms for women, Haq combines entertainment with a socially relevant narrative.
Looking Ahead
With its strong word of mouth and positive reviews, Haq is expected to continue its upward trajectory over the weekend. Trade analysts are closely watching whether the film can sustain its momentum and reach a significant milestone in the coming days.
