Chanting songs of grief and anger, members of Amangwo community laid siege to the Ikwuano local government headquarters, calling for justice in the brutal murder of 22-year-old Solomon Ikokwu.
The victim was allegedly killed by members of a now-disbanded community security team. The protestors leveled gruesome allegations, claiming the killers not only murdered Solomon on “trumped-up charges” but also dismembered his body, taking his head and hand before burying the remains in a shallow grave.
Spurred by the cries of Solomon’s mother, police have made arrests, but the community demands more. They have appealed directly to LGA Chairman Anthony Nwaubani, insisting the case must not be swept under the carpet and that every person involved must face the law.
