Controversial Nigerian singer Portable (Habeeb Okikiola) remains in custody following his arrest by the Ogun State Police over a New Year’s Day incident at his bar. He faces multiple charges, including assaulting his baby mama, attacking a police inspector, stealing a ₦12 million Mercedes-Benz, and resisting arrest.
Portable was brought before the Federal High Court in Ota, but his bail request was denied because the assaulted officer was not in court. He is expected to remain in custody until January 19, when the case will continue.
Drama escalated online when Portable’s friend, Kolu, went live on social media to appeal for financial help, asking fellow entertainer Carter Efe for a ₦7 million loan to secure Portable’s bail. Kolu praised Portable for helping him move to Lagos and improving his life, and hinted he might sell personal items to raise money.
The livestream divided social media, with fans either applauding Kolu’s loyalty or mocking his emotional appeal. Carter Efe, who has a past dispute with Portable over a nearly ₦10 million music deal, refused to provide the loan, warning Kolu to stop asking for money.
The unfolding saga has kept fans and the public glued to social media, following updates on Portable’s legal troubles and the ongoing drama between his associates.
