Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has addressed the backlash over a recent incident where he removed a couple from his Denver concert for sleeping during his performance.

Speaking in a livestream, Burna Boy defended his actions, saying, “Did I tell you all to be my fans? I am only looking for fans who have money this period.”

The response has reignited debates about his treatment of fans, some of whom have threatened to “cancel” him.

This isn’t Burna Boy’s first controversy with fans. He previously made headlines for kicking a starstruck male fan offstage and asking another fan to leave for not dancing during a performance—without issuing apologies on either occasion.
