Music superstar Davido has revealed his ambition to step into acting, expressing interest in playing the role of a taxi driver in an upcoming movie.

Speaking during a panel at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) titled “Rhythms of the Continent: The Afrobeat Movement and Its Impacts on African Film”, Davido shared his excitement about exploring film production and collaborating with African creatives.

“My brother was saying he was going to give me a role. I told him I wanted to do a role that would be shot by a taxi driver or something — like something out of the blue. He has to figure that out. So I definitely want to get involved in movies,” he said.

Davido cited international stars like 50 Cent, who successfully transitioned into acting and production, as his inspiration. He emphasized his desire to produce authentic stories reflecting African experiences, drawing influence from series like “Uncorked.”

With this move, Davido looks set to expand his artistic footprint beyond music and into the world of African cinema.
