“I’m Not in Control” — Vee Reacts to Marriage Pressure Ahead of 30th Birthday

BBNaija star Victoria “Vee” Adeyele has spoken candidly about the growing pressure she faces to get married as she approaches her 30th birthday.

Vee revealed that questions about her relationship status have become frequent, even from friends she has not spoken to in months. According to her, many of these conversations focus solely on marriage, often ignoring her career progress, personal growth, and everyday challenges.

“Nobody warned me about how many times I’d have to answer these questions as a woman turning 30 this year,” she said.

Recalling a recent conversation with a married friend living abroad, Vee shared how the discussion quickly shifted to marriage without any interest in her work or wellbeing. “She didn’t ask about my job or how I’m surviving—just whether I’m seeing someone,” Vee noted, adding humorously that marriage questions now seem to outweigh even the rising cost of living.

While acknowledging that she hopes to get married and have children someday, Vee stressed that she is not in a rush and refuses to settle for the wrong partner. She explained that her current focus is on building her career and becoming the best version of herself.

“I can’t control when I’ll meet the right person, and I’m definitely not going to settle just because of pressure,” she said.

Sharing a lighthearted moment from London, Vee recounted how a friend jokingly checked her ring finger and said she hoped to see a ring there next time. Laughing it off, Vee responded, “I’m not in control. I’m not God. Let’s leave it at that.”

Through her reflections, Vee highlighted the intense societal expectations placed on women as they approach milestone ages, encouraging others to set boundaries and follow their own timelines.
