‘Janshakti Janata Dal Will Win 10-15 Seats in Bihar’: Tej Pratap Yadav

Patna, November 10, 2025: Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav has expressed confidence that his newly formed party will secure 10 to 15 seats in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Patna on Monday, Tej Pratap said, “We will win. Our party will win 10-15 seats,” signaling the emergence of a new political force in the state just months after his expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

The statement comes ahead of the second phase of polling, scheduled for November 11, with election results expected on November 14, 2025. When asked who would form the next government in Bihar, Tej Pratap offered a cautious response: “Let’s see what happens. We will find out on November 14. I am not omniscient, so I cannot tell you anything.” His remarks underline the competitive and uncertain political landscape in Bihar, where multiple parties and alliances are vying for power.

A New Political Chapter for Tej Pratap

Earlier this year, Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from the RJD following internal party disagreements. Subsequently, he launched the Janshakti Janata Dal, contesting elections under his new party banner from the Mahua constituency, which went to polling during the first phase on November 6. By forming his own political outfit, Tej Pratap aims to establish a distinct identity separate from his former party while retaining his political influence in Bihar’s dynamic political ecosystem.

The Mahua seat, long considered a politically significant constituency in Bihar, now serves as a test case for Tej Pratap’s ability to mobilize voters independently. Speaking about the intensity of the election campaign, Tej Pratap told ANI, “The election campaign has been very intense. There will be a change,” signaling his confidence in both his party’s prospects and the potential for political transformation in the state.

Security Concerns Amid Election Campaign

Tej Pratap Yadav also revealed that his security has been enhanced due to an alleged threat to his life. “My security has been increased because there is a threat to my life. There are many enemies who are working to get me killed,” he told reporters. This highlights the tense environment in Bihar during elections, where high-stakes political contests and deep rivalries often create security concerns for prominent leaders.

Bihar Election Overview

The Bihar Assembly elections are being held in two phases, with the first phase having already witnessed historic voter turnout across multiple constituencies. The second phase on November 11 will cover 122 assembly seats spread across various districts, including East Champaran, Madhubani, Gaya, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Bhagalpur, Rohtas, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, and Aurangabad.

In the previous 2020 Assembly elections, the seat distribution among key parties was as follows: the BJP won 42 seats, the RJD 33, Janata Dal (United) 20, Congress 11, and Left parties collectively secured five seats. The ongoing elections will not only determine the balance of power in Bihar but also decide the fate of several sitting ministers.

Among the JD(U) leaders contesting this phase are Vijendra Yadav (Supaul), Lesi Singh (Dhamdaha), Jayant Kushwaha (Amarpur), Sumit Singh (Chakai), Mohammad Jama Khan (Chainpur), and Sheela Mandal (Phoolparas). Key BJP ministers in the fray include Prem Kumar (Gaya Town), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Vijay Kumar Mandal (Sikati), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Neeraj Bablu (Chhatapur), and Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsiddhi). Their performance will be closely watched as it could influence the composition of the next Bihar government.

The Road Ahead for Janshakti Janata Dal

By predicting a 10-15 seat victory, Tej Pratap Yadav is projecting his party as a significant regional player, capable of influencing coalition dynamics in Bihar. While the party is still in its infancy, the leader’s claim underscores the ambition to carve out a foothold in a state traditionally dominated by larger political parties such as the RJD, JD(U), and BJP.

Political analysts note that Tej Pratap’s entry into the elections with JJD could impact vote shares across several constituencies, particularly where family loyalties and caste dynamics play a pivotal role. By leveraging his personal appeal, the legacy of the Yadav political lineage, and campaign messaging focused on change, Tej Pratap hopes to consolidate a voter base for his nascent party.

Conclusion

As the Bihar Assembly elections proceed toward their conclusion, the attention now turns to both Tej Pratap Yadav’s performance and the broader electoral outcome across the 122 constituencies in the second phase. With historic turnout, high political stakes, and security concerns underscoring the campaign, the state is poised for a decisive verdict on November 14, 2025.

For Tej Pratap Yadav and the Janshakti Janata Dal, the elections represent not only a political test of strength but also an opportunity to assert themselves as a new force in Bihar politics. The party’s performance could influence the coalition arithmetic, reshape alliances, and signal the changing contours of power in the state, making the coming days crucial for all political actors involved.
