Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is looking ahead to the possibility of playing alongside his son, Deuce, in the NBA — a goal that could extend his career by a decade. The 27-year-old All-Star shared his aspirations during a conversation on The Morris Code stream with twins Marcus and Markieff Morris, discussing fatherhood, basketball, and family life.

Tatum, who welcomed his first child, Deuce, in December 2017 with his high school girlfriend Toriah Lachell, explained that as his son approaches eight years old, he is already considering whether he could continue playing for 10 more years to share the court with him.
“I can easily do that. I mean, if it were to work out, that would be cool,” Tatum said, referencing the idea of playing in the NBA alongside his young son.
This would follow in the footsteps of LeBron James and his son Bronny, who are the only father-son duo to play together on the same NBA team to date. If Deuce joins the league in the future, Tatum and his son could become the second pair to achieve this rare milestone.
Deuce Tatum’s Early Love for Basketball
Jayson Tatum previously told PEOPLE that Deuce is already “starting to fall in love” with basketball. He began playing on organized teams recently, showing early signs of passion for the sport.
“He’s really starting to fall in love with the game. It’s exciting to see that,” said Tatum of his eldest son.
Deuce has become a familiar face for Celtics fans, often seen courtside at TD Garden in Boston or walking through tunnels before and after games. He frequently sports Celtics green or mini versions of his father’s jersey and even chooses his own game-day outfits, reflecting his growing personality and sense of style.

“My sons kept my spirits up amid the agony of my first injury. There have been plenty of moments during this when I doubted myself. My son thinks I can do anything,” Tatum told PEOPLE.
