Jeriq Refutes Claims That Igbo Artists Don’t Support Each Other

Nigerian rapper Jeremiah Chukwuebuka Ani, popularly known as Jeriq, has dismissed claims that Igbo artists in the music industry fail to support one another, calling the notion a “fallacy.”

Speaking on The Vybz TV Cartel podcast, Jeriq revealed that some of his strongest support has come from fellow Igbo musicians. He specifically praised Flavour for helping several rising Igbo artists, including himself.

“My biggest song ever is ‘Oluoma,’ and Flavour gave me the verse free of charge. Phyno and Flavour have never collected a dime from me. Numbers don’t lie,” Jeriq said, highlighting collaborations with Phyno and Flavour that were done without monetary exchange.

He expressed confidence that artists performing predominantly in Igbo could achieve global recognition, similar to Asake’s success with Yoruba music. “I believe someone will sell out a stadium in the U.S. or Paris with Igbo music,” he said.
