Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, has raised concerns over the heavy security presence at the separatist’s residence.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday morning, Prince Kanu warned the public:
“Breaking news! Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family house is currently surrounded by a large number of security agents. We are alerting the whole world.”
The alert comes ahead of the long-awaited judgment in Kanu’s terrorism-related cases. Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja is expected to deliver rulings on a series of applications filed by the Federal Government against Kanu today.
Kanu, who has been in custody since 2021, faces seven terrorism-related charges, including alleged incitement, running an unlawful organization, and other acts considered a threat to national security.
The heightened security and pending judgment have triggered tension and uncertainty in parts of the South Eastern region.
