
The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a vehicle belonging to a Nigerian Air Force officer that was stolen at gunpoint in Abuja.
The operation, which led to the arrest near the Kano–Zaria Expressway, followed a tip-off about the suspects’ movement from the Federal Capital Territory towards Kano State.
According to police reports, the armed robbery occurred at the officer’s residence in the Karu area of Abuja in the early hours of October 29, 2025. The assailants invaded the home around 3:15 a.m., carting away money, mobile phones, and a Ford Escape SUV.
Acting on intelligence, officers from the Kano State Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle near the Salbas Filling Station. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police team, leading to a brief gunfight before they were overpowered and taken into custody.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Adamu Adam Abubakar from Zoo Road, Kano.
- Umar Bello from Nasarawa Dirkania, Kaduna State.
Police disclosed that a third suspect, known only as Dan Malam, managed to escape the scene. He is believed to be in possession of a pistol and some of the other stolen items. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the seamless collaboration between the Intelligence Unit of the Force Headquarters in Abuja and his officers. He reiterated the importance of community support in fighting crime, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
