Leadway Assurance Company Limited has initiated a comprehensive verification process for African Alliance annuitants, following its successful acquisition of the African Alliance Insurance Annuity portfolio.

In a statement, Olufunmilayo Amanwa, Executive Director of Technical & Operations at Leadway Assurance, outlined the purpose of the exercise. She emphasized that this validation process is a critical first step in the transition, designed to accurately identify all existing annuitants and update their records for a smooth transition.

Amanwa explained that the goal of the verification is to safeguard the welfare of retirees, ensuring that their benefits are secured and processed efficiently. “By participating in this exercise, retirees under the African Alliance portfolio can seamlessly transition to the Leadway brand, ensuring the continuity of their payments without disruption,” she said.

The verification is a direct response to regulatory measures from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), aimed at protecting policyholders and enhancing confidence in the insurance sector. Amanwa further emphasized that the exercise is more than just a procedural task; it reflects Leadway’s dedication to supporting retirees and honoring their years of service with financial security.

“This validation exercise lays the foundation for the timely payment of benefits and upholds the trust that annuitants have placed in us,” she noted.

The transfer follows NAICOM’s intervention, which appointed an interim management team to address outstanding annuity payments. The transition to Leadway not only secures the immediate welfare of annuitants but also signals a broader effort to strengthen Nigeria’s insurance ecosystem.

Amanwa encouraged African Alliance annuitants to utilize several available channels to complete the verification process, including dedicated Leadway customer support lines, email communication, and visits to nearby Leadway Assurance offices.
