Lere Olayinka Shares Throwback Video of Fubara Kneeling Before Wike

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has sparked discussion by sharing a throwback video of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara kneeling before Wike.

The video dates back to 2023, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Fubara the winner of the Rivers State governorship election. Olayinka shared the clip on his Facebook page, seemingly to justify his recent controversial act, which had drawn public criticism.

Earlier, Olayinka faced backlash when he was seen kneeling at an event to serve his minister, an action described by Arise TV Morning Show host Reuben Abati as “sycophancy taken too far.”

In sharing Fubara’s video, Olayinka wrote:

“I am sure Oga Reuben Abati, EX-CONVICT rufaioseni and that Online Baseless Lawyer didn’t see this video then.”

The throwback video has since reignited debates over political loyalty, decorum, and public perception of government aides in Nigeria.
