MI London have confirmed the retention of England all-rounders Sam Curran and Will Jacks for the 2026 men’s Hundred, while adding England batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge to their women’s squad, marking a major boost for both teams ahead of the upcoming tournament.
Curran to Captain MI London Men’s Side
Curran, 27, will lead MI London, the franchise formerly known as Oval Invincibles before the recent takeover. Both Curran and Jacks are set to feature in England’s squad for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, starting next month, bringing international experience and form into the squad.
Curran contributes as a left-arm seam bowler and a powerful batter, while Jacks offers off-spin and explosive batting, giving the team balance in both departments. Their retention highlights MI London’s strategy of building a core of experienced England internationals around their pre-auction direct signings.
“In Sam and Will, we have signed two of the best English white-ball cricketers there are,” said MI London chair Oli Slipper.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge Joins Women’s Squad
Wyatt-Hodge, England’s leading T20 run-scorer, joins MI London from Southern Brave. The batter reached the final four times with her former franchise, winning in 2023, and is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the history of The Hundred.
Her addition provides MI London with a marquee player capable of anchoring innings and delivering big performances in key matches.
“Danni is a fan favourite in south London with her performances for Surrey and England and has already tasted success at the Kia Oval. She’s been prolific in The Hundred and is one of the most exciting players in the game,” added Slipper.
Retention Rules and Strategy
This season introduces a new pre-auction window, allowing teams to directly sign or retain up to four players before the main player auction, scheduled for March. MI London faced difficult choices due to the strength and continuity of their squad, which won the men’s competition for the past three years as the Oval Invincibles.
Among those not retained in the men’s team were England internationals:
- Sam Billings (former captain)
- Tom Curran
- Gus Atkinson
- Saqib Mahmood
- Jordan Cox
These players may still be available to re-sign during the auction, giving the franchise flexibility while keeping a strong core of Curran and Jacks.
Surrey Connection and Ownership
All three players – Curran, Jacks, and Wyatt-Hodge – represent Surrey, which holds a 51% ownership stake in MI London, while Reliance Industries Limited purchased a 49% share of the franchise last year, marking 2026 as the first season under the new joint ownership structure.
Curran also serves as Surrey’s T20 skipper, providing further leadership experience at the domestic level, while Wyatt-Hodge strengthens the women’s side with a proven performer in high-pressure matches.
Key Takeaways for MI London
- Curran and Jacks retained as core men’s players, with international form and leadership experience
- Wyatt-Hodge signed to enhance women’s squad and provide match-winning potential
- Teams can retain four players pre-auction; additional re-signings possible during March auction
- 2026 marks MI London’s first season under joint Surrey-Reliance ownership
The retention of Curran and Jacks, alongside the acquisition of Wyatt-Hodge, signals MI London’s intent to remain a dominant force in both the men’s and women’s competitions in The Hundred 2026.
