The horror icon Ghostface is back. Paramount Pictures released the first official trailer for Scream 7 on October 30, 2025, revealing a thrilling new chapter in the legendary slasher franchise. Fans will be excited to see Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, returning to the series after missing Scream VI in 2023.
Scream 7 is directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson for the first time and is set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026, promising a mix of classic scares and new twists for longtime fans.
What the Trailer Reveals
The trailer begins with tension and terror as a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has rebuilt her life. The horror escalates when her daughter, played by Isabel May, becomes the next target, forcing Sidney to confront her past to protect her family.
Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans (Joel McHale), also faces danger, while Matthew Lillard, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox return to reprise their iconic roles. Cox’s character is again drawn into the chaos, participating in another spine-chilling murder mystery.
The trailer hints at the most brutal Ghostface yet, showing Ghostface terrorizing Sidney and her loved ones while maintaining the franchise’s signature blend of suspense, jump scares, and dark humor.
Returning Cast and New Faces
In addition to Campbell, Lillard, Arquette, and Cox, the film brings back Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown from Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023). New additions include Isabel May as Sidney’s daughter and Joel McHale as her husband. Other cast members feature Scott Foley, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, and Jimmy Tatro.
Notably, Lillard, Arquette, and Foley reprise characters that were previously killed off. Lillard, who returns as Stu Macher from the original 1996 Scream, admitted to PEOPLE that reprising his role was both exciting and nerve-wracking:
“I’m nervous, because at this point in my life, the only thing I can do is sort of ruin how people consider Stu… [But] it’s a risk that I was excited to take.”
A New Chapter in the Horror Franchise
With Kevin Williamson directing for the first time, following the death of original director Wes Craven in 2015, Scream 7 promises to reinvigorate the series while honoring its roots. The screenplay is written by Guy Busick, with a story co-written by Busick and James Vanderbilt, both of whom worked on the previous two films.
The official synopsis reads:
“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”
Fans can expect a thrilling combination of suspense, high-stakes family drama, and the signature Scream-style meta-horror that has made the franchise iconic.
