The Niger Delta Blue Economy Investment Summit has partnered with Caverton Marine to advance safer, more efficient, and climate-friendly marine transportation across the Niger Delta. The collaboration follows a high-level meeting in Lagos between the Summit’s organizing committee and Caverton Marine.
The partnership aims to address longstanding safety challenges on the region’s waterways while accelerating the deployment of modern, low-emission passenger vessels, including fully electric ferries. Caverton Marine, a leading indigenous boat manufacturer and marine logistics provider, has earned national recognition for delivering world-class passenger ferries in Lagos through public-private collaborations.
Cedric Ogwu of the Summit’s committee explained that the initiative will provide a platform for governments, investors, and operators to enhance waterway safety, boost commuter confidence, and support sustainable economic activity in coastal communities.
Caverton Offshore Group MD, Bode Makanjuola, highlighted that the company’s vessels meet global safety standards and offer cost-efficient, low-emission solutions. Dr. Uche Igwe, co-convener of the Summit, emphasized that adopting electric ferries aligns with global energy transition priorities and positions the Niger Delta to attract green investments.
The Summit is scheduled for 9–11 February at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom, bringing together policymakers, investors, and development partners, with speakers including former Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa.
