Nigeria Immigration Service Elevates 39 Officers to Comptroller Ranks

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) yesterday celebrated the promotion of 39 officers from Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration (DCIs) to Comptrollers of Immigration (CIs) in a ceremony presided over by the Comptroller-General, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, at the NIS Technology Building in Abuja.

The ceremony was attended by the officers’ spouses, who participated in honoring the newly promoted personnel. Of the 46 officers originally promoted, one passed away before the ceremony, while six others had retired and could not be decorated. Among the promoted officers are Farouk Audu Umar, Olubu Kalu Ibe, Omoniwa David Adedeji, Abang O Mary, Oladele G Olubunmi, Mamman A Richard, Ofeimum Osameke, Ige A Rasak, and Olaniyan I Adebayo.

Mrs. Nandap noted that promotions are not automatic or merely based on years of service but are earned through dedication, loyalty, and exceptional service. She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for fulfilling their promise to advance deserving officers. She also commended the families of the officers for their unwavering support.

“The NIS is undergoing significant reforms, and your dedication positions our Service alongside global counterparts. As we embrace 2026, we must channel our energy toward transformation and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies, including the Single Travel Emergency Passport (STEP), which will launch next year,” Mrs. Nandap stated.

The Deputy Comptroller-General in Charge of Human Resources, Afolayan Ayeni, also emphasized that promotion carries increased responsibilities and urged officers to rededicate themselves to the Service’s mandate.

Mrs. Nandap encouraged officers who were not promoted this cycle to remain focused, resilient, and committed, assuring them that their turn would come.
