Nigeria vs Gabon: Obi Mikel Lists Three Keys for Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has highlighted three key things Nigeria must do when they face Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff on Thursday in Morocco.

Obi Mikel urged the team to approach the match with confidence, bravery, and passion, stressing that the players should take pride in wearing the green and white.

“The team must go into the game and play as they should — with full confidence, bravery, and passion — knowing they are wearing the green and white, a badge that carries immense pride,” Obi Mikel said on the Obi One Podcast Channel.

He added: “Three hundred million people are watching — that is a lot of pressure, but you have to deal with it. I know they can do it, and I believe in them.”

The winner of the Nigeria-Gabon match will face the winner of Cameroon vs DR Congo in the playoff final on Sunday.

Nigeria heads into the clash on the back of a victory over Benin Republic, while Gabon defeated Burundi in their last game.
