Nigerian Army Kills Three Suspected Suicide Bombers in Borno, Recovers Explosives

Troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Hadin Kai, have killed three suspected suicide bombers in an intelligence-led operation along the Guduf–Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.

Security sources said the suspects were intercepted before they could carry out attacks on civilians. Suicide vests and other improvised explosive device (IED) components recovered from the individuals were safely secured by the troops.

Counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama confirmed that the operation was conducted in close coordination with local volunteer forces, allowing the army to neutralize the threat efficiently. Heavy casualties were also inflicted on terrorist escorts accompanying the suspects, forcing surviving elements to flee into the Mandara Mountains.

During the operation, troops recovered four AK-47 rifles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists and destroyed two motorcycles used in their activities. Preliminary intelligence indicates that the neutralized suspects were deployed from the Mandara Mountains by the Ali Ngulde-led faction of Boko Haram (JAS).

Operation Hadin Kai has intensified efforts to detect and neutralize suicide bombers through enhanced human intelligence, communication intercepts, and other intelligence-gathering measures. Collaboration with other security agencies and community-based volunteer groups in Borno and Yobe states has also been strengthened to protect soft targets.

Additionally, public awareness campaigns have been increased to encourage residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities.
