The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has launched the Nigerian Content Research, Innovation and Technology Challenge 2025/2026, inviting innovators, research institutions, academia, oil and gas service providers, and the general public to submit technology-driven solutions addressing key challenges in the industry.
Launched in December 2025, the initiative aims to identify, nurture, and commercialize home-grown innovations in the oil and gas sector and its linked industries. Successful applicants will gain admission into the NCDMB Technology Innovation and Incubation Centre (TIIC) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Proposals must align with priority thematic areas, including:
- Geological and Geophysical Studies: Solutions for exploration, big data analytics, and real-time logging data processing.
- Local Materials Substitution: Sustainable materials for environmental remediation, cryogenic technology for LNG, refining applications, and ultra-high temperature cementing.
- Technology Development: Innovations in digitalization, Internet of Things (IoT) for exploration and production, and condensate refining.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Carbon capture, utilisation and storage, produced water management, depollution technologies, and hydrogen production.
- Engineering Studies: Enhanced oil recovery, refinery efficiency, laboratory analytical equipment, drilling technology, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Renewable Energy: Solar and wind technologies, energy storage solutions such as batteries, hydrogen, and thermal storage.
Submissions, limited to 1,500 words, are open for one month. From all entries, 30 proposals will be shortlisted for mentorship, then narrowed to 10, with five finalists pitching in the final stage.
The top five winners will receive cash prizes, mentorship, and media exposure, while the top 10 participants will gain access to the TIIC for further support toward commercialization.
