The Nigerian Police have re-arrested Peace Ikpo, a former employee of Skybet, also known as B-Sports Gaming Limited, a Chinese-owned company, in connection with an alleged Ponzi scheme operated by the firm.
Ikpo, who worked as an office administrator and front desk officer at the company, was initially arrested on July 6, 2024, by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID). She was detained but granted bail on July 14, 2024. After her release, Ikpo reportedly complied with the police’s directives, intermittently reporting to the FID as required. She was later informed that she no longer needed to report unless contacted.
Re-Arrest After Honoring Police Invitation
However, on December 22, 2025, Ikpo was re-arrested after honoring what she believed was simply an invitation from the police. Contrary to her expectations, she was detained immediately upon arrival.
A source close to Ikpo’s family explained:
“After her initial release, she had been reporting to the FID periodically until she was told to stay put and that the police would reach out to her as needed. But on December 22, 2025, she was again arrested after she complied with an invitation from the police.”
Ikpo was informed that Skybet was under investigation for allegedly running a Ponzi scheme. Investigators questioned her about the company’s operations and her role within the organization.
Ikpo’s Role and Her Defense
Ikpo reportedly told the police that her role was limited to administrative duties and front desk responsibilities. She clarified that she was not involved in the company’s management or decision-making processes, and her job largely involved receiving correspondence, running errands, and relaying documents to the company’s executives.
A source familiar with her defense stated:
“She emphasized that she was not a director or part of the decision-making structure. Her role was simply that of an office administrator/front desk officer—a messenger who handled correspondence or ran errands for the company’s management.”
Detained Over Christmas and New Year
Despite her explanations, Ikpo was detained and reportedly kept in solitary confinement throughout the Christmas and New Year holidays. Sources close to her family have expressed growing concerns over her continued detention, highlighting the prolonged nature of her confinement.
“She honored the police’s invitation on December 22, 2025, and has been detained ever since. She was kept in solitary confinement throughout the festive season. This is highly conc
