The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has paused nationwide enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy after a Federal High Court issued an interim order restraining the Force from implementing it.
The court had issued the order on December 17, 2025, following the police announcement on December 15 that the policy would resume nationwide on January 2, 2026, citing public safety and internal security.
In response, the NPF, through Force PRO CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, applied for the vacation of the interim order and raised preliminary objections. The matter has now been adjourned to January 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to respecting the rule of law while continuing intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges.
Key Point: Enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy is on hold until the court delivers its decision.
