Nigerian Startups Shine at NBA Africa Triple-Double Accelerator

NBA Africa has announced the winners of its second Triple-Double Accelerator, a program aimed at nurturing Africa’s technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The accelerator attracted over 700 applications from 32 African countries, with 10 finalists pitching at Carnegie Mellon University Africa (CMU-Africa) in Kigali, Rwanda.

Prize-winning startups:

  1. Reborn (Morocco) – Advanced athlete performance analytics. Won $25,000, incubation support, API credits, and an OpenAI immersion day.
  2. Fitclan (Egypt) – Digital fitness platform. Won $15,000, incubation, API credits, and OpenAI immersion.
  3. Athlon Technology (Egypt) – AI-powered video analysis for amateur sports teams. Won $5,000, incubation, API credits, and OpenAI immersion.
  4. Atsur (Nigeria) – Blockchain platform for African art investment. Won $2,500 and business incubation.
  5. Songdis (Nigeria) – Digital distribution services for African independent artists. Won $2,500 and business incubation.

The top three winners also received API credits and an exclusive OpenAI immersion day at its headquarters.

NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi praised the finalists for their innovative solutions shaping the future of sport and entertainment in Africa, highlighting the program’s role in scaling products and driving impact across the continent.

The accelerator was supported by CMU-Africa, ServiceNow, OpenAI, and ALX Ventures, with judging from leading industry experts including CMU-Africa Director Conrad Tucker and OpenAI Africa Lead Emmanuel Lubanzadio.
