NSCDC Arrests Four Suspects Over Killing of Volunteer in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of one of its volunteers, Abdurrauf Sheriff, during an attack by suspected hoodlums.

The Kano State Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the incident occurred along Gyadi Gyadi Court Road while the volunteer was performing his official duties.

Condemning the killing, the NSCDC described the incident as a “grievous act of violence” and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.

“The unfortunate incident, which occurred around Gyadi Gyadi Court Road while the volunteer was carrying out his lawful duty, is a grievous act of violence that the Corps will not tolerate,” the statement said.

The command confirmed that four suspects were arrested in connection with the attack and are currently in custody.

“The Command wishes to inform the general public that four suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons, including a hacksaw, Danbida, and drugs. They are currently in custody and assisting security agencies with investigations to ensure justice is served,” Abdullahi stated.

The Kano State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased volunteer and reassured residents of the Corps’ commitment to maintaining security in the state.

He added that the NSCDC would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to rid Kano of criminal elements.

The command further disclosed that, as the case involves culpable homicide, the suspects would be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force after preliminary investigations for appropriate legal action.

Residents were urged to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
