Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has debunked viral social media reports alleging that former Governor Willie Obiano has died, describing the rumour as malicious and irresponsible.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo said the claims that Obiano passed away in a London hospital were entirely false. He noted that he had spoken personally with the former governor and could confirm that he is alive and in good health.

“I view with grave concern the reckless circulation of such malicious rumours. It is both wicked and completely irresponsible,” Soludo said.

He urged journalists, particularly online publishers, to uphold ethical standards by verifying information through official channels before publishing. According to him, the spread of unverified death reports not only causes distress but also undermines public trust.

Soludo called on the public to disregard the story and assured them that Obiano remains hale and hearty. He also wished the former governor continued strength, peace and long life.
