Olómú Festival Secures Traditional and Institutional Backing Ahead of 2026 Edition

The maiden edition of the Olómú Festival has received strong endorsement from traditional rulers, community leaders, and local institutions, positioning it as a major eco-cultural celebration in Lagos State’s Epe Division.

Coordinator of the festival, Olori Ololade Oshin, who is also the Iyalaje of Ito-Omu, highlighted that the festival aims to promote environmental awareness, preserve cultural heritage, and support sustainable community development.

Speaking at a news conference, Olori Oshin revealed that festival organisers plan to develop a tourist village in Ito Omu, elevating the festival’s profile to attract both local and international visitors.

She further outlined initiatives to expand agricultural activities, enhance food production, and grow the fishing sector, while also tapping into the economic potential of the community’s palm resources.

“The Olómú Festival will serve as a cornerstone for broader economic growth, cultural promotion, and environmental stewardship in our community,” Olori Oshin said.

The festival is expected to become a flagship event for eco-cultural tourism in Lagos State, contributing to both local livelihoods and Nigeria’s broader cultural and economic landscape.
