Osun 2026: APC Screening Committee Disqualifies Omisore, Alabi, and Five Others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the Osun State governorship primary has disqualified former Deputy Governor and National Secretary Sen. Iyiola Omisore, immediate past Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, and five other aspirants ahead of the party’s primary election.

The disqualified aspirants also include Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Sen. Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), and Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.

The committee, chaired by Barr. Obinna Uzor, cleared Hon. Mulikat Adeola Jimoh and Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji for the December 13 primary, finding them compliant with the party Constitution, guidelines, and the Electoral Act.

According to the six-page report, a petition from the Osun APC Renewal Group flagged concerns that some aspirants did not meet mandatory nominator requirements. The committee reviewed all nine aspirants, ensuring uniform application of APC rules.

The findings revealed that seven aspirants failed to secure sponsorship from at least five fully registered, financially up-to-date party members from each Local Government Area, violating Articles 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c) of the party’s primary guidelines.

The disqualified aspirants have the option to appeal. The Screening Appeal Committee, headed by Senator Tola Odebiyi, is scheduled to sit in Abuja on Saturday to hear petitions and appeals from the aggrieved parties.
