PDP Seeks to Bar Three Judges from Handling Party Cases at Federal High Court

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally requested that three judges at the Federal High Court, Abuja, no longer be assigned cases involving the party.

In a letter dated November 19, 2025, addressed to Chief Judge Honourable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, PDP National Secretary Amb. Taofeek Arapaja raised concerns that all cases filed by or against the party in recent years have been consistently assigned to just three judges: Hon. Justice James Omotosho, Hon. Justice Peter Odo Lifu, and Hon. Justice Abdulmalik.

The party noted that while the Abuja Division has 12 judges, only these three have handled PDP-related matters, prompting complaints from members. PDP described these courts as “courts of particular concern” in issues affecting its interests.

The letter stressed that justice must not only be delivered but also be perceived as fair, requesting that future PDP cases be assigned to other judges to avoid any appearance of bias.

PDP clarified that it respects the integrity of the judiciary and praised the overall fairness of the Federal High Court under Justice Tsoho’s leadership.
