Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command, have arrested two suspected kidnappers and arms couriers during a covert operation along the Omu-Aran–Oko Road.
The arrest, carried out on Saturday, December 13, 2025, followed intelligence-led surveillance targeting bandit supply networks in the state. Initial apprehension of a suspected courier led to the capture of a notorious kidnapping kingpin operating in the same area.
The suspects were identified as Abubakar Mohammed Lawal from Yamatawa village, Kano State, and Abubakar Manu from Oro-Ago village, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State.
During a search, police recovered a black Bagco bag containing items reportedly destined for bandits in the Oro-Ago forest, including:
- One military camouflage water bag
- One black rechargeable torchlight
- One black face cap
- Five Baofeng two-way radios
The suspects confessed that the consignment originated from Jos, Plateau State, passing through Kano State Motor Park in Ilorin before their arrest. They revealed the items were intended for Nagala Danladi, a bandit leader commanding over 300 armed men in the Oro-Ago axis.
Investigations indicate that the suspects are part of a larger criminal network terrorising communities across Kano, Kwara, and Niger states, also acting as arms and ammunition suppliers for regional criminal gangs.
