Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has ignited reactions online after asserting that he has supported more people in the music industry than superstars Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido combined.
In a now-viral video, the Zazu crooner emphasized that his influence extends beyond music, claiming he assists both upcoming artistes and everyday Nigerians lacking industry connections.
“Even with your money, many celebrities won’t let you feature them as an upcoming artist. But I help people freely. I have helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido,” he said.
Portable further described real help as providing shelter, food, clothes, and studio access for new artistes, rather than business deals disguised as mentorship. He also pointed out that many artistes are often “used” by established stars and labeled ungrateful when attempting independence.
The singer highlighted his fan engagement, saying:
“Many Nigerian celebrities don’t post their fans even if they dance to their songs. But me, I repost every positive video about me.”
Social media users reacted with mixed opinions. Some praised his street-level generosity, while others criticized the comparison to industry heavyweights. One user commented, “Portable no dey ever disappoint with bragging. But he actually has helped some people sha,” while another remarked, “Mentioning Olamide and Don Jazzy in this comparison is wild! 😂”
The video continues to spark lively debate online about celebrity mentorship, street credibility, and generosity in the Nigerian music scene.
