Nigerian singer Portable remains in prison just days after his first wife, Omobewaji, gave birth to their child.
The singer was remanded following his arraignment on Monday, January 12, 2026, at a Federal High Court in Ogun State over a nine-count criminal charge, which includes allegations of assault and car theft. Bail was denied due to the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer, and the next bail hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2026.
While Portable remains behind bars, Omobewaji has reportedly welcomed a newborn baby, news which sources say was conveyed to the singer in prison. It is alleged that he received the announcement with joy and is eager for his upcoming bail hearing so he can meet his child for the first time.
The singer’s legal troubles reportedly stemmed from a clash involving one of his other wives, Ashabi Simple, during which he allegedly assaulted a police officer.
