Veteran Bollywood actor Prem Chopra has returned home after being discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday, November 15, following a week-long hospitalisation due to a viral infection and age-related health complications. At 92, Chopra’s health concerns required careful monitoring, especially given his known cardiac issues.
The actor was admitted under the care of cardiologist Dr. Nitin Gokhale, who confirmed that the hospital stay was primarily for the treatment of a viral infection and associated age-related complications. Dr. Jalil Parkar from Lilavati Hospital added that Prem Chopra was not in the ICU but had been treated in a ward, and his recovery was progressing steadily. “He is 92 years old and has age-related issues, which naturally slow recovery. He should be fine in another three to four days,” Dr. Parkar stated.
Following the completion of his treatment, Prem Chopra’s family confirmed that the actor had returned home safely. While the hospital stay was precautionary, fans and well-wishers had expressed concern given his age and the combination of a viral infection with existing heart conditions.
Prem Chopra’s health update brings relief to the film industry and his fans, many of whom took to social media to send him speedy recovery wishes. Known for his towering presence on screen and his signature villainous roles, Chopra has carved a unique legacy in Hindi cinema over a career spanning more than six decades.
Prem Chopra’s filmography includes over 380 films, with memorable performances in classics such as Woh Kaun Thi?(1964), Upkaar (1967), Do Raaste (1969), Kati Patang (1970), Bobby (1973), Do Anjaane (1976), Trishul (1978), Dostana (1980), and Kranti (1981). His portrayals of antagonists during the 1960s and 70s earned him a permanent place among Hindi cinema’s most iconic villains, and his contribution to Indian films continues to be celebrated.
As Prem Chopra recovers at home, the actor remains an enduring figure of the golden era of Bollywood, admired not only for his performances but also for his longevity in the industry and his resilience off-screen.
